Where is my hat? My Tilley has gone a walkabout. After a few frantic calls back and forth with the pizza joint and our hosts in Rorvig; it turned out that I had left it at the pizza joint. The lady owner kindly offered to send it to Switzerland. Happy days aided by the return of the blue sky. After a leisurely breakfast, making our way to Den Gamle By (more about that later) came across a cute café, which caught our attention and drew us in for the morning fix. The young owner didn’t disappoint; perfect chai for me and half strength cappuccino for Ursula. They don’t do decafe coffee in Denmark. He even gave us a tip to visit a street full of typical old-fashioned Danish homes.
Coming back to Den gamble By, it’s an open air museum know as “The Old Town” where 75 buildings across the country have been painstakingly reconstructed in the town’s botanical gardens to show what life was like in Denmark from the 16th to the 19th century.
Crisscrossed the streets later that arvo; this town is full of energy with lots of young people out and about; it’s a big university town. Walking past the cathedral in the big plaza was a young dance group performing to some of the most popular music, which we were drawn to. Very impressed, we sat there for an hour watching them do their individual and group moves with high energy and enthusiasm.
Dinner tonight was pretty ordinary at a Turkish restaurant; enough said. Very impressed with Aarhus, can imagine living here in the summer. Big ride coming up tomorrow to Horsens, hopefully the weather will be kind to me.
