Day 7 - Barcelona to Valencia 350km (11-Apr-2018)

We farewell Daisy, our host, today on this rainy day in Barcelona.  Really enjoyed our stay with her - she was most welcoming and shared her lovely apartment with us. On our 3-hour drive to Valencia, we were impressed with the Highways, however, the toll fees the Spanish charge for the pleasure of driving on their roads is extravagant! Will never complain about tolls in Australia. We got to Valencia around early afternoon and after checking in to our hotel, went off to explore this beautiful port city in the south of Spain (the third largest city in Spain). Weather was overcast and a really cold wind was blowing right through us. Glad we had our puffer jackets and scarves with us! We took the fantastic public transport to explore the old town with its many magnificent buildings, cathedrals, monuments and parks.

It’s also a cyclist’s paradise as the infrastructure is fantastic and the landscape very flat. The evening was completed with a visit to the seaside area in a tram to have a “Seafood Paella”. We are led to understand that Paella originated in Valencia. It didn’t disappoint. Once again, the local are friendly, warm and very helpful. All in all, another lovely day.
