Today’s 15.5km walk on a beautiful day
was a piece of cake (a Portuguese tart) compared to yesterday. Fairly early
start walked through the Bangladeshi conclave to have my chai tea (nice way to
start a day, makes me more approachable) on our way to visit the Sao Jorge
Castle,
which is a seriously steep climb. I tell you, these Bangladeshes do
know how to make a chai. The steep climb to the castle was worth it, if for
nothing else, then to get the panoramic view of Lisbon. We also broke our rule
of not doing queues; Ursi kindly offered to join the queue to buy the tickets.
Spent the next couple of hours learning about the history of the castle and
enjoying the views it offered.
Slowly made our way down towards our apartment via the city for a short rest to catch up on emails, news, etc. Stopped at an old fashioned Hong Kong style shopping stalls in a 4 or 5 level run down building, which had definitely seen better days hoping to find a couple of tops for Ursi. Find we did, a bargain, so we think @ 10 Euros each. Happy days. At around 4pm, we made our way to a part of Lisbon that we had not yet explored to Parque Eduardo ViiI.
Turned out to be a very sophisticated area, lovely to walk through. Came across a building with one of the best graffiti we had seen. A couple of hours later made our way back and stopped for dinner at a local seafood restaurant. As we reflected on the day and on Lisbon in general, our opinion of it has improved in line with the weather
