Day 15 - Seville (19-Apr-2018)

We slept in, so it was a late start to another glorious day in Seville. During breakfast, we searched Google for a free walking tour of Seville and found one that started at 10.30am; hastily made our way to the starting point a 2km walk and discovered from a lady tour guide that the one we wanted to do was not starting from there. Gave her feedback to amend their website as it was misleading. Learnt from her that the one we wanted to do would start from another meeting point at 12.30pm. Given, we gad 2 hours to spare, we made our way to the cathedral, could not get in as it didn’t open until 11am. Not a good start to the day, eh! Not disheartened, we walked the narrow cobbled stone lanes of the old town which we always enjoy, stopping at a delightful café for an extra hot decafe coffee for Ursi and an Americana tea (that’s what they call it here) i.e. extra hot milk with a strong tea bag for me, my substitute of a chai latte.
We then made our way to the meeting point of the 12.30pm start walking tour which was right underneath this huge wooden mushroom like structure.
We still had time up our sleeve, so paid our Euro 3, no discounts for seniors to visit it; taken up by lift and then a walk at the top giving a panoramic view of Seville. We played our part by taking a few photos.

One hour into the walking tour (an hour that we will never get back in our lives) decided to quit, as the tour was a shocker. Enough said. Next, we went to the Cathedral and what a Cathedral it was! Another spectacular place of worship;

I reckon, centuries ago, they (different towns and cities) must have tried to outdo each other to build the most beautiful place of worship; all in the name of god. It’s good that it was built and preserved for people to enjoy it today. Walked a tad more through the old town before making our way back (after walking 13km during the day) to our residence. We had decided to eat indoors, so got some shopping done on the way home; on arrival a group of 5 (3 girls and 2 boys) very nice young Spaniards from Granada had moved in and were having a late lunch, which they shared with us. They had come to Seville for 24 hours to visit and enjoy the Faria. Like young people elsewhere, they were lubricating (not getting plastered) at home to save cost on drinks before going out; on the traditional drink of white wine mixed with sprite. Not our cup of tea having tasted it. Economically, young people do it tough here due to scarcity of jobs as we learnt form these kids. They went to the Faria and we went to bed as you do when you get old.
